The Indian American diaspora has played an important role in strengthening the India-US relationship, the country's top envoy said here on Wednesday, a day after the Indian government announced Padma Bhushan civilian awards to three eminent Indian Americans. "The diaspora has been an important pillar of the relationship, which continues to strengthen ties through its achievements in diverse sectors and contribute to India's development journey," India's Ambassador to the US Taranjit Singh Sandhu told the community during a virtual celebration of the country's 73rd Republic Day.

India-South Africa Trade Exceeds USD 10 Billion Target Set By Leaders

Trade between India and South Africa has exceeded the USD 10 billion target set by the leaders of the two countries, Consul General Anju Ranjan announced at a reception here on Wednesday to celebrate India's 73rd Republic Day. "India-South Africa trade has crossed the landmark. We have achieved the 100 per cent target and now it has increased from USD 10 billion to USD 11.6 billion," Ranjan said.

California State University System's Trustees Vote To Include Caste As A Protected Category

California State University (CSU) system's trustees on Tuesday voted unanimously to ratify an agreement, which historically demands caste as a protected category to all of its anti-discrimination clauses for all contracts. The development, described as historic by its proponents led by Equality Labs, comes days after more than 80 Indian origin faculty members from the university system opposed such a move.
